Let's get started!

RRSP (Registered Retirement Savings Plan)

An RRSP is primarily designed to help Canadians save for their retirement. You can contribute to your RRSP until you reach the age of 71 (after which the plan matures and you must convert it to another vehicle, such as a RRIF). Contributions are tax-deductible, but any withdrawals are considered earned income.

RRIF (Registered Retirement Income Fund)

A RRIF is designed to provide income in retirement. By December 31st of the year you turn 71, you’ll have to convert your Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) to another vehicle, such as a RRIF. In addition, you must begin to withdraw a minimum percentage of your RRIF as income each year.

For eligible beneficiaries, the government matches 20% on the first $2,500 contributed annually to an RESP through the Canada Education Savings Grant (CESG) (up to a maximum of $7,200 per beneficiary).
